Central Power Services keeps velodrome on track with UPS replacement
Date: 15/01/25
Central Power Services (CPS) recently completed a planned replacement of the UPS for one of the UK’s premier indoor velodromes. The company has worked with the facility for over a decade, providing an ongoing service contract for its UPS systems.
CPS installs and commissions UPS equipment to meet the highest technical requirements, such as with elite sporting facilities where factors such as health and safety and consistent performance are paramount. Its dedicated team of UPS service engineers are also on call 24/7 for all contractual customers.
As part of its proactive approach to servicing and maintenance, CPS replaced the UPS it had originally installed at the velodrome eight years ago to guarantee continued optimal performance and zero downtime during any power outages.
Michael Hogan, Services Contracts manager at CPS, explained: “A lot of the team are big cycling fans so it's a privilege to support this high performance velodrome. In environments where even a momentary power loss is unacceptable, such as this facility, a robust UPS system is essential.
“When we began working with the velodrome, we conducted a full site survey to determine the essential electrical load, electrical distribution layout and environmental considerations. This allowed us to develop a best-in-class UPS solution. Our recent work involved replacing the UPS as it approached the end of its lifecycle to ensure that the system continues to operate reliably and efficiently.
“It's incredibly rewarding to play a crucial role in keeping the facility operational at all times – not just for elite athletes but also the thousands of cycling enthusiasts who use the centre every year."
